selling car after exhaust mod?

If I do an SVT exhaust conversion on my 2001 zetec, what would the implications be on selling or trading the car if I want to buy something new eventually? I plan on the SVT header and Random Tech cat kit, plus borla exhaust. I'm sure it'll meet emissions regulations, but I don't know if the configuration will be totally kosher... Can anybody shed some light?

What do you mean? If you do that will anyone want to buy your car later on? Sure, there are people who will buy it. Am i understanding your question right?

Yeah, I'm sure that won't deter some buyers. I would imagine that a dealership would not want to take a car with a modified exaust system, especially if it changes the configuration of the catalytic converter. Although I believe that the RT cat is CARB certified, and the car would pass emissions, i don't think it would be 100% compliant. And if somebody buys the car privately from me, can they turn around and sue me for the exhaust mod if they have issues at inspection?

They can't sue you if they sign something saying that they are buying the car " AS IS".

yeah, once they have the title, anything that goes wrong is their fault....if they had thoughts about it not passing emission and didnt confront you to do it or get it tested before buying....it is their problem now....have heard many stories of people buying cars without really test driving or maintenance records and they crapped out on em..sux but it was their fault they didnt "shop around"

my zx3 had a magnaflow muffler, neon lights throughout, sportline springs, painted dash and interior, carbon fiber hood, sound system with custom fiberglass sub enclosure. I traded it in to the dealership when i got my SVT, and they gave me 2k more than it was worth if i left the mods.

so yeah, im sure you would be able to sell it, or trade it in later if you wanted to. Mod away

It will definatly pass emissions with the random tech cat. And some one will definatly want to buy it if you ever sell it.
