Ethanol EPA requirements.. Happy or not they may vanish?

To start I hate the 10% ethanol 'crap' gas.
Used to be only my County had to use the EPA mandated 10% ethanol gas. So I could drive out and find non 10% ethanol gas.
The pure gasoline get much better mileage and had more power.
But that changed and now it i unrealistic to drive the distance required to 'find' 100% gasoline.

With the current situation, Looks like perhaps the ethanol mandate may vanish.
I am all for it.
I look forward to buying 'real' 100% gasoline again!

Anyone opposed?

A few other things are more concerning than getting 100% gas back.

Well, none of 'THOSE THINGS' are sensible for a car discussion site.

Maybe we can change it to a 'how your future health plan costs may affect your automobile purchases?

Or maybe: Do you think the deporting of unlicensed illegal immigrants from the roads will affect you car insurance rates?

I enjoy having to do NOTHING but carry the weight of the World every second of every day JUST LIKE YOU. But sometimes I just pay attention to some trivial thing. Sorry to OFFEND you. But that is the way it is.

I have no idea when I last was able to purchase 100% gasoline. Decades ago maybe.

This fuel discussion landed in General Chat since the OP doesn't have his Focus anymore, Whynot mentions a new alternative to Alcohol that may be used in some areas on the second page:

http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/g...uel-worth.html

Alcohol requirements are usually thought of as Emissions ones, but there are other reasons for both Govt. and Oil co. support.

Stretching fuel supplies/self reliance for supplies is one of the others, subsidies for alcohol are related to that as much as to Emissions. Reduced price alcohol as required in many areas can be a boost for the oil companies as an octane enhancer as well, saving $ in gasoline production beyond the cheaper fuel alone.

I'm not informed on the current economics, like how much various subsidies may add up to presently. Know they had been on a reduction schedule at one time, beyond that there are a lot of details in Farm & fuel alcohol subsidies to check out.

At the moment we appear to have plenty of oil/gas available, but that's a result of prev. high prices that made more expensive exploration/production methods make economic sense. North Dakota and Canadian production has already been cut back as prices drop, the 'oil sands/tar sands' in particular aren't economic at lower prices per barrel or the deep drilling/directional drilling & fracking used for both oil & gas wells.

Even the worldwide economic downturn we're coming out of had a LARGE effect on prices - along with the replacement alcohol fuels. Low fuel prices help the recovery, but they won't last as demand increases again.

Use some 'real' gas while it's cheap, but keep as many options avail. as possible to help cushion the inevitable 'bust' when price/availability gets tight again.

I personally think if they can change ethanol production from corn to other stuff I think that would be a big help with the current problem with non ethanol corn prices (like for other users of corn)

Google "Non corn ethanol" and get a surprise about corn ethanol (at least it was surprising to me).

It is true ethanol can be a alternative fuel. I just think it should not be mandated.
Rather like on my electric bill: I can sign up for renewable sources. Or not . It is 100% my choice.

Wow,wasn't offended one bit but you did ramp it up a couple levels;having a rough day or what? Why the attack on a 10 word comment? Are you worried you're going to lose your insurance?

You win.
You make a none topic post, the pretend to be surprised about a response, with a perfect gaslight attitude.
Masterful troll job.

In the future to spare such problems. Please refrain from ever posting to any post I start, or to any comment I make to anyone's posts.

Thank you for being so considerate..

Its been a long time since I've seen a pump with just unleaded and not an ethanol blend.
The reason I don't like it is purely uneducated a bit silly, i feel like Im getting cheated out of something when I purchase it.
Like buying a bottle of soda with alot of air at the top, you feel like they didn't fill it up all the way but it still cost the same as one they did.

I've never seen you go on some outburst that was way off base;usually you are quite mild mannered even when you disagree. You could've noted my off-topic comment without the insults as you made it personal like I attacked you. Sorry for your butthurt. I've been on here for 5 years and we've never butted heads or even disagreed once so I was surprised by your curt attitude since we have zero history of any conflict.
