saleen focus

Hey guys, I was wondering how the saleen focus worked. It says nitrous assisted. I feel like a huge noob asking this but how does the nitrous work in that car?. Is it like a push button immidiate boost or is it different. Also i noticed it says stock the car has 158 HP. Did they rebuild the enigine to run with the nitrous? or is it running a stock engine

Thanks
Mike

Unless it is 158Whp then that is prob. crank horsepower. Ford rates our cars at 130HP (crank), so with a few bolt ons that Saleen prob. added it bumps that number up to 158HP. Wheeled horsepower is prob 128+nitrous.

Also, I don't hink they are putting a big shot of N20 in there. They prob just added a chip that bumps up the fuel.

Which Saleen? The 2004 Saleen N2O was a 2.3l Duratec with very minor bolt-ons, and a 95% installed nitrous setup. Its all plumbed and setup with a window switch, but they don't provide the final hookup line to the bottle. Once you hook up the bottle, the warranty is gone.

im talking about the 05, It says 2.0l. what i really want to know is how they are running nos if its a stock engine. and what kind of setup it is. From my understanding you can push a button and get a gain or you can have it continuously sprayed into the engine with acceleration or something. Can someone please clearify this for me

thanks

Exactly.... which IMO completely negates the effort of putting it together. They should have just wnet turbo or SC. What a waste.

When you buy it, the N20 is not connected. You have to do the final connections and the bottle fill. Also, its already been said. But hitting that shot of N20 button results in 2 things, a boosted engine and bye bye warranty.

Even though they had a Saleen Focus at the dealer by my house, they were swearing to me that they would honor the warranty if I decided to hook up the N20. I was so tempted to get it too, only I knew the sales guy and service rep were morons. The warranty disclaimer was even on the info pack they had on the car.... they just kept trying to convince me that it would still be covered.

i always thought was incedibly pointless. why buy a new car with a 95% nitrous setup..ur paying for all the bells n whistles..then u finish that last 5% by hooking up the bottle, and u void ur warranty..pointless!

well thanks for the info, but what i am wondering is how the nos runs in the saleen. like does it work open throttle where it sprays when you are at open throttle and works similar to what a turbo would boost you or is it that stupid fast and the furious thing where they just hit a button

It looks like its a toggle, which enables a window switch for WOT applications.
