2008 Opinions Please

I am going to look at a 2008 Fous 4 door sedan tomorrow. Anyone care to share their opinion on the 08. Had to buy the first year of a new model but the car is in good shape?

Why? If I was looking for a mk2 it'd have to be a '10-'11 ses only. Have you looked at the earlier mk1.5's?

Just wondering if the early mk2 was a decent car.

It's basically a mk1.5 with a different shell. I haven't heard too many problems with them.

The later ones are improved vs the earlier ones. Look at '10-'11 models if your looking for a mk2.

An acquaintance of mine has a 2008 Focus 2 door manual trans he bought new with maybe 40-70K miles on it. From what I have heard he hasn't had any issues with it besides the drivers door handle breaking or wear-n-tear stuff like brakes needing to be replaced.

I am not privy to the whole maintenance history of the vehicle but that is what I know.

The one complaint I know he had about the vehicle is that there was not an in cabin button to pop the trunk, though later 2009+ have that, and could always pop it with the keyfob. He had originally intended to install one but I don't think he's gotten to it yet.

I have a 2008, 5 speed manual and just about 117,000mi on mine and I have no complaints about it, minus regular maintenance, mods I've done and tires I've had no issues with it (knock on wood) the only thing I've fixed is the little mk2 odds & ends (sway bar end links, valve cover gasket) it's been a great car and still is, I drive very sporty at times, high rpms, high speed and it runs great the next day. If the price is right, and looks good to you then pull the trigger. I have not heard many complaints about the mk2 or 2.0 Duratec engine. Good luck!
