Yep, if the current wagon was available in the USA, I'd likely buy one.

I just wish Crossover owners would wake up and realize that their crossovers are station wagons. I also wish Allan Mually would wake up and realize that just because the Transit Connect is "sexy" to him doesn't mean that the rest of the world wants that vehicle in wagon form to replace a sleek Focus wagon! Also, mini-vans are not mini any more, so we should come up with a new marketing name for MV's to bring them back in style like "Crossover" did for station wagons. People who don't have electric sliding doors in their family vehicle don't realize how badly they need them until they use one.

Missing Stuff

I too had an Escort wagon, '91, which I absolutely loved. Kept it way too long until I found the Focus I have now. Anyone know where I can find the cover for the cargo area and the crossbars for the roof rack? I too found the cars to be night and day, as much as I loved the Escort this Focus is so much better, especially with the heated seats and defrosters on the side mirrors.

I've got about a tank and a quarter on my new-to-me 2001 gold SE wagon w/ 5sp, comfort package, and ABS, and I'm loving it! The Zetec is a very willing engine, the chassis is still tight, it drives very nicely, and carries a lot of stuff w/ the seats down. My canoe will fit very nicely on the roof rack once it thaws here.

I was lucky enough to rent an early European Ford C-Max turbo diesel in Spain a few years ago, and it was very fun to thrash the mountain roads from Valencia to Barcelona via the castle at Morella. Even w/ 3 full sized Americans and all our luggage, it got good mileage on cheaper fuel, and wasn't boring to drive. I didn't even realize it was a diesel until after I hit the rev-limiter at an expressway on ramp. I thought I'd run 3rd gear long and when it hit the limiter it was as if we had hit a wire across the road. That made me open the hood when we parked, and only then I realized that we had a diesel...so it doesn't sound like a rock crusher, and doesn't really drive that much different from gas. Once I figured out to short shift it and ride the torque, it was brisk enough and fun in the hills. 8/10 would hoon again.
