even with 3k you are going to come up well short of an svt. Sorry to say it. But it is very true, you're looking to make 60bhp, as well as making up for a serious valve deficiency. Maybe with FI, and alot of internals work but, for that much it would be cheaper to drop a zetec in and make up the difference from there.

And that is all that really matters. However, you could make a decent AutoX'r out of it, with alot less work.

Best throwing most of the 3k into suspension and some engine work. While the SVT would still pull on you, you can at least make it keep up in the corners (or even carry more speed through the corners)

There are some engine mods available for the SPI but not nearly as much as the Zetec. You can still get a tb, intake, and exhaust.

Okay, i'm gonna rip that one apart, sorry hehe. Would you invest in a new zetec engine, drive train, ecu, labor all to gain the monsterous power of 130 crank hp? No, you wouldn't want to do that and sure wouldn't be cheaper. Your best bet is to save up 4-5grand and get a full turbo setup. A forced induced SPI would blow away the svt. Of course you'd have to get the turbo, upgraded fuel setup, upgraded exhaust, and a serious overhaul to your trannie to handle the power. If I had a stash saved up, i personally wouldn't invest in all the bolt ons, i'd go straight to the big power and get FI.

But what is the life span of a turbocharged SPI? New internals and all, and about how much boost do you reasonably think you can run...you can only keep those 4 intake valves open for so long as compared to the 8 on a zetec. I think even with FI you'd be hard pressed to tune an SPI to be able to run with an SVT. Just sheer logistics problems there.

I wouldn't want to go through the trouble to turbo an spi, but I believe the valves would be of little effect. Forced induction still cares about intake and exhaust effieciency, but not as much as a normally aspirated engine, it just forces it in there and burns it all. Like someone before me said, if you love your car thats all that matters, have fun with it.
