Unhappy The oddest things happend yesterday

Yesterday wasn't a good day for my car apparently. I left work, had to go to Lowes to get something. On my way there, I pulled on the main loop and traffic was flowing pretty fast, so when I pulled out, I got on it a lil bit, lil past 4k rpm's in second. In the midst of that, all of a sudden, it cut out either like it missed for a split second, or the clutch slipped. It only did it for a split second, but enough to jerk the car and feel it. I really wasn't able to evauate it either since it happend so fast. I got on it a few more times, just to see if it would do it, and it ran fine. After that, I ran some more errands, everything still ok, then stopped and filled up with gas. Cranked it up and pulled out from the pumps, looked down, and noticed the guage didn't budge. It was still sitting in the same spot as it was when I pulled up at the pump. All I could think of trying was to kill it and restart it. So I did and everything was fine. Just thought it was bizzare that two strange things happened in one evening. Does anyone think that all of this was just a fluke, or was there something serious wrong to cause both of these problems? Also, do you think that one thing could have caused both problems. It's only a lil over a yr old w/ only 19k on it. Any input on this would be greatly appreciated.

Leaving the key in the acc. position while getting gas can cause the guage problem. The cutting out problem sounds like what happens when you're REALLY low on gas -- you don't have enough fuel to satisfy the injectors' requirement [in your case, when you 'got on it'], so the car bucks due to lack of fuel.

Yea, i've heard of the guage doing that, and I did leave it in acc. position while filling up, just thought it would reset when you started it up. I always leave it in acc so I will have music to listen to just about everytime I fill up and it never has done it up till now. As far as it cutting out, I know fuel wasn't the problem or assume it wasn't being that I had more than enough in there. It was between half and 1/4 when it jerked, and was just a hair above the quarter mark after I got done w/ errands and filled up.

As of right now, there are no recalls for the 2003 models. I believe the fuel pump recall your talking about is for 2000 and 2001. So far, the only problem i've had to carry it in for is the a/c evaporator case leaking and there wasn't even a bulletin on that. It hasn't cut out anymore, and the fuel guage I won't know about till I need to fill it up next. It's just kinda odd though, you guys say that leaving it on acc. while filling up might cause the guage to mess up and i've done it just about everytime I fill up and it's never done it till now. I'm hoping all of this was just a fluke. Won't know unless these problems happen again or something serious comes about. Any more comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

I think your doing it right by waiting to see if this problem happens again. I dont know if this helps but since this cold weather has invaded most of the U.S. it seems I've read about this a lot here lately. This and the tapping noise. lol

Yea, I think your right Donille. I'm pretty sure it's just the cold causing the symtoms. Seems like here lately, it's caused many for many peps. Even starting yesterday, I've got a new and odd sounding engine noise at start up, but i'm assuming it's nothing major and it's just cause it's cold outside. Last couple of mornings have been right at 25, which isn't nothing for most, but is pretty cold here.
