stock axles- Strength

Alright, how strong are the stock axles? I plan on building a 5 speed Focus, and need to know how much WHP these stockers can handle, approximately.

I don't think the axles would be a problem...I think something else might break before they do...I wouldn't worry about em...

well, to be honest I plan on installing a turbo kit that should put out 225hp to the wheels, I was just wondering if it could handle that, PLUS I planned on installing a Phantom diff., but am hearing horror stories about it causing additional stress on the axles.

skip the phantom grip, its a waste of cash, go with the quaife or t2, and 225whp is nothing for the axles, they will be fine for some time

Concur. Phantom grip is a POS design in my mind.

Your axles should be fine. These aren't little straws like on Hondas.

Turbo Tom is pushing over 400HP and is still using the stock axles. They are strong as hell.

That's Lucille. I absolutely love that car. Its currently out of commision, damned air suspension. But I will be switching the car to shocks/springs this summer so I can start driving it again. I can't wait. She's been in a garage under cover for months now. But I'm glad you like her.

As imprecise as generalizations are, I've heard that you should think about upgrades once you pierce 300whp on a FWD config.
