why is your foci style the best? or why is it not?

I'd like to know what foci have what going for or against them.

It'd be nice if it was put in year/motor/generation(special trim, ex: ST or svt).

What is good and bad about it?

The plan is discussion, not pissing contest. Don't ruin it for the rest of us by taking comments to heart.

Well the Mk1 hatch is a favorite of mine because it was adopted into the world of rally even though foci are tiny little commuters than no one usually gives a shit about.

You also might think that their easily riced like Civics and stuff but their not. A lot of people have built them up to be mini mustangs and that's amazing.

And let's not forget the SVT. Although it could have been better because Toyota made 180 horses out of a 1.8 so SVT was a little low with the 170, the SVT is still an awesome car that actually came to the US before the RS did.

The Mk1s however are tiny, not as fuel efficient as can be, not super reliable, and repairs are ridiculously expensive because euro hatch.

I don't mean to offend anyone here but the Mk2s just killed the focus vibe. They were so ugly!! To me at least. The lights were tiny and the body was awkward.

Then came the Mk3 and I rejoiced.

This may have been true in the day but now parts are fairly common and salvage yards are packed with used parts for cheap.

I go with any hatchback simply because of the extra storage space without the stereotypes of owning a Wagon. And the SVT is the cream of the crop for fun until the ST's came along.

Having now owned 1st gen and 3rd, aswell as working at a dealer and being in and around alot of mk2's, I can say:

MK1 > MK3 > MK2

MK1 is a great car, has its quirks but it's so much fun. MK3 is good, both NA and ST, but it just doesn't feel the same. MK2 is okay, drives like the MK1 but feels like its grown up and become duller.

Regardless, I like and would enjoy owning any of them.

And then those parts fail you have to go get new-used parts. Lmao. Still would own one if I had the money to take care of AND mod the shit out of it.

True. There is a bit of luck to it, but if you stay with crash damaged cars, you can find some low mileage parts that will outlast the rest of the car (at least in NY where the body goes out after 15 years).

My Mk1 with a 2.3L Duratec is great.

ZX5 so it is extremely practical. The Duratec motor is chain driven, so no worries about a timing belt. There's a good amount of displacement, and removing some restrictive PZEV stuff will really allow the motor to breath. Lastly, my car is a base model with only A/C, so it is light. The "perfect" autocross car.

I love my mk1.5...so fun to drive and easy to work on.

30 mpg to boot, not too bad.

After 15 years of owning my Mk1 I am a proud Mk3 owner. For me the car just does so many things well. It looks good. Its fun to drive. It gets good mileage. Its a comfortable enviroment to be in. The really great thing is that it can also do all this while pulling a trailer with my track bike on it and being loaded down with canopies, lawn chairs, cooler, tools, ramps and gear.

Ask me in 2005, when I owned an '02 SE ATX, and I HATED all Focii. Despised them. I was bitter because my car was slow, weak, quiet, and didn't get enough mpg to justify all of those things. The slushbox didn't help either.

Ask me now that I own an SVT zx3? I love them. It's the best car I've ever owned and the most fun I've ever had with a commuter car. I get compliments on it all the time and it's a blast to be in.

So it's really a matter of where you are in life and what you want. Yea, I harbor a crush on the ST. But lord knows what I would do with 250+ hp.
