tap tap tap tap

Anybody noticing a tap tap tap tap tap tap in the cold cold NorthEast? It only happens during the most extreme cold, i.e., today and yesterday, and it's coming, seemingly, from the intake area. All sounds well under the valve cover. I've checked my oil and everything checks out with it, but I'm still paranoid. Any other SVT owners hearing this?

May just be the norm valve noise, which happens to be very common for these cars. Maybe its louder during the most extreme cold temps. I dunno, I could be wrong. Correct me someone if I' am.

If it happens a lot then take your SVTF in for service, for peace of mind also.

I've noticed that my car was louder when the temp went below 30 degrees when I first started the car.
When the temp is above 30, it seems to be normal/quieter.

Yeah, I know that the valves are a little noisy normally, but this tapping isn't coming from the valve cover is all. It's a *lot* louder inside the car than outside, when listening with the hood up it sounds to be coming from somewhere around the intake area.

I figure it's just because it's -100000 degrees outside and all is fine. I think I might have the SVT tech in Greenfield tell me that tomorrow, too. :)

I've noticed this valve tap on my PZEV as well. I'm glad it's normal!

Yes, I noticed it this morning. The temp was about minus 12 or so.

happens to me also, but it has to be real cold I takes about 5 minutes to warm up and then it seems to be fine. I deal with the below zero tempetures all the time. The block heater seems to improve the noise. I just thought that the oil was getting a little thicker and took a little more time to get to the top of the enigne. The noise is only noticable then it almost goes away by the end of the first minute.
