Cool Ford Focus Needed - Advice

Lads,

Am seriously considering a Focus. However, i know nuts about them 'cept in the rally. So forgive my ignorance. To cut short, what are the types of Focus available ie ZETEC, etc... BTW, am interested in the 2 door. What is the engine spec and what to look out for. Basically i am looking at the used 2000 and 2001 models. Most appreciative of all your help from the fanatics lads 'ere

Cheers

welcome aboard!

Well, the cars available with the zetec are the zx3 (2 door), zx5, zts (sedan), and i think the ztw (wagon). The one I'm sure you're talking about is the zx3. It got 130 horse and 135 ft/lbs torque. If you want somehting fast go for the svt or even the pzev (low emmisions). Another choice is wait til next year when the 2005's come out which have quite a bit more power.
The only thing i need to warn you about is that the first year models arn't the greatest. They had their share of problems but they are still good cars. I'd try to find at leats a 2002. I purchased my 2003 with 9000 miles on it for a little over 9 grand. Hope this helps

ZTW's are the big long ones that look like station wagon's, those mostly older folks drive a lot.
Also remember for sedan's there is the SE, LS, definately the ZTS or SVT.

The 2000 & 01s are the most notorious for having problems. Check out the Ford website for model info. The SVT is the meanest in stock form. It has a stiff suspension, awesome styling, 7 gears & more power. The PZEV is offered in 3 states. The PZEV (partial zero emmisions vehicle) has the most potential with aftermarket modification because it the most torque. The "base" model is the ZX3. It is also the best looking!

Unless I'm mistaken, didn't starting with the 2004 model year, the PZEV became available nation-wide?
