Hood Problem....

Well i just got in an accident...wasnt a bad one and im alright. But the focus isnt. I hit a mini van from behind and you know how they have a high bumper, well it pushed up my hood and bent my ac condensor and radiator and smashed my grill. The bumper is fine just needs a new coat of paint. BUT I did open my hood Twice. Once to see damages and the other to put in winshield washer fluid. Well now i cant get the hood to put up anymore. Ive tried everything. Pulled and pulled on the hood opener latch in the car and the little thing you push over is just sitting there kind of loose and doesent do anything. Before i take and axe and brake my hood off is there some kind trick that will release the latch. The thing you push over to open the hood normally is done with it must have broke the last time i shut my hood. Any sugestions or just go with the saw?

Before you inflict any further damage you may want to drop by your local dealer and have them take a quick look. If all you're trying to do is get it open they may take a quick look at it while you wait or at least have some suggetions. Or you may be able to reach in with a long screwdriver or something and manually unhook the latch from the hood...probably would be easier with two people, one to hold the hood up partially and the other to try
and release the hook latch. Not much help, sorry. Good luck.

You know, the same thing happened to me. I did not think it was such a big deal until my hood popped open on the highway. That is something I will never forget, and it did tons of damage to the car too.

as funny as that may sound i bet that was scary....Yeah my hood is already popped up a little...Its like 3 4 inches up but its like jammed into the latch or something. No way its gonna pop up on me while im driving. i tried pulling up on it with all my might and its not coming up...There must be some kind of cable you can pull to pop the latch open cause the little thing you move under the hood to complete the opening process doent work anymore..

hoods are supposed to be hard to open after an accident so the hood doesn't open while driving. Have you ever seen Black Sheep? I've bent my hood a few times. I always had to put some major muscle into it.
