Exclamation Fuel Filter Recall/Replace

Hi all just re-signed in this forum. Was spurred on by a letter I just got from Ford. (If this is old news I'm sorry). Anyways it's a letter talking about a defect in the Fuel Filters for Focus. That they are working on making an improved model to be ready at the end of Jan '04. The letter gives instructions on what you should do if you're getting symptoms etc. E.G. Minor hesitation to complete power loss. For the people who suffer from lost power etc. they will replace your filter now but if you're suffering from minor hesitation (like I do sometimes) then you'll want to wait until the new model is ready.
They say that they will be replacing them free of charge and that if you have already tried replacing your fuel filter before you can take the receipt to the dealer and they will refund your money. I'm pretty stoked they sent this letter since I recall seeing things in the forum about filters a few times. I hope this helps most of ya. I know I'm going to go for the new one in a month myself.

Is this for all model years? I have an 02 Focus that's been having minor hesitation for about six months...

Of course, I haven't gotten a letter, either. I guess I could call my dealership and ask them.

Uhm well the letter actually says "Some focus models from years 2000-2001" I have a 2000 ZX3 so they may have sent a specific one for my car... It would seem to me that if they'd fixed the problem in '02 and '03 models that in the letter it wouldn't say "we're still working on a new filter that should be ready at the end of Jan '04" Yea I'd call em up. I just got mine today.

Yea, I'll definatly keep my eye open for any sluggishness... haven't had a problem, but you're right they would have changed the way they worded the letter I would think to say that there isnt a problem in the 03/04 family.
