Unhappy Ouch speeding ticket...

There is a long straight road near my work that is in an industrial area. The speed varies all over the road, from 25 - 35 or 40 mph. I pulled out and got on it a little bit when leaving work, I thought I was in the part that was 35 or 40 mph and I was doing about 50 or maybe 55 at the MOST. Since almost everyone goes about 50 mph I figured no big deal. All of a sudden I see a cop doing radar and boom, I got nailed. He said 60 in a 25. I don't think I was going quite that fast. Now I'm facing my FIRST ticket, he said it was $275 and 5 points if I paid it. I am defintly going to court, I could care less about the fine I have no problem dropping the cash, I just can't get the points. My insurance is already ridiculous enough without any tickets. I'm probaly going to get a lawyer, but I was just wondering if anyone here had any pointers for me. I haven't ever been to traffic court before. Thanks guys and gals! Sure hope I don't lose my fo-fo

1st offenders are usually offered a driving class....take it and the ticket will get taken off your record.

Guerro can correct me, but I thought traffic school was only applicable to a speeding ticket if the speed was less than 20mph over the posted speed limit. At least that's what the officer told me the last time I got pulled over. Then again that's here in California.

Well they didn't offer me that on my first ticket. Offered my brother though. Got 2 tickets last year and 2 this year. WOOO, not! I got it back a few months ago, suppose to loose it again for another 90 days but the DMV doesn't have the papers, cuz i was gonna fight my last one but changed my mind, the court said they sent the papers to the DMV in Oct but the DMV don't have them so I have my license, I hate the DMV!

Get a GREAT Lawyer.....never got that high of a speeding ticket but your best bet is the lawyer because it's what they do. Get people out of rough situations like the one your in.

Good Luck!

Yeah, but how do you justify going 60 in a 25? That's gonna be hard to get around.

LOL, and you know people have used that one many times, I think my mom may have even used that once. I know when I was a kid, I was frequently the excuse - "but officer, I was running late, my son is probably standing outside school now wondering where his mom is!"
