Smile New Guy Here...with questions/problems!!

Hi, I am the proud owner of a 01 Focus Zx3, ATX. I joined this forum before, but didn't post much. I just recently discovered the WRC (basically because I can't drift a Focus, and got tired of purchasing new tires), and now I am hooked. I used to not like rallying..but now I go into WRC DT's if I don't watch it often. So here are my questions...

What would it take to bring a stock Focus (with the ATX) to a competetive rally level? In two years..after I finish college and am able to pay for the numerous body panels I will prolly have to put on her..I plan to join the SCCA Northeast Division - Club Rally and attend rally school. Also, does anyone know where I can score a rally racing jacket? I see the NASCAR ones everywhere..but am not a fan of giant left-hand turns.

Also, I have seen these volant intakes for sale, and I was wondering what prevented people from removing the upper half of the stock airbox, placing a cone filter inside, and attaching the "Iceman clone" I have read about to the silencer connection. Note I haven't actually walked outside to my car to look at the airbox (I will tomarrow when I install the Iceman Clone)....If it can be done..it sounds like a cheap way to gain the horses a volant would offer.

Ok, here is something I need help with (and might as well post about it)..is it a manufacturer defect that my brakes squeak all the time and my front rims are black due to break dust? My mileage is 29,000...I had the dealership replace the pads and such under warranty earlier (around 20,000)..but the problem is back. What can I do?

oh..and what is are the suggested tire pressures for the front and rear?

Thanks for the info/help guys and I look forward to posting.

Well I dont know what kinda temps you live in or what you plan to do with the tires but if you still have yhe stock tires it should say the tire pressure on the door panel, the tire it self, or the owners guide.

Stuffing a cone inside the stock airbox: Some say it has been done. I have yet to see it or read about an actual application. IMO the stock airbox is not large enough to house the cone and the connector necessary. The maf openning is not centered on the airbox, and being offset, this necessitates some sort of connector to mount the cone to. I would really like to see this done myself.
