Diablo and Check Engine Light

I was talking to a kid today who said that he had installed a Diablo Sport chip in his Focus and since then had the check engine light come on around four times and is now on all the time. I told him to reset the computer and he said it was done everytime it came on and now it won't go off. I was puzzled because I have had no problems in either cars. Any one else had this problem? I told him to join us here but he didn't think we would like him asking dumb questions and I told him not to worry about it.

I have one and all I know is if you didn't clean that silicone crap off completely from the ECU service port, you could get intermittent contact, which could cause problems.
Other than that, can't see why the chip would cause the CEL to come on.
Has he tried removing the chip and then performing the Test Mode on the dash to see the CEL code ?

Woohoo !
My 1000th post.

Did he disconnect the battery before he installed the chip?

Tell him to go get the car scanned and find out what codes have been tripped.

The code will tell him what the problem is.
