Angry Emissions...........

Ever have a problem with them? Like them morons messing up your ride?
I put this here, because it's regarding the CRX. Not the Focus, so hey general chat right? But if I am wrong move it.
Ok, so the CRX is a '90, ya know and here we have 2 lanes, one for the new rides from '96 and up and the one's older go in this other lane. But anyway, whatever. We get in and the dude jumps in and immediately he hops the clutch and slams on the brakes!
Hellooooo??? I thought you were supposed to be up to date on driving an MTX and ATX. Duh??
But anyway, they ******g were testing the poor car for over 20 min! 2 guys did it too, both of them, really hopped the clutch the whole freaking time. I'm like damn, I didn't even do that when I was learning!
But anyway it passed, but......................now the check engine light came on and it started smoking. It was leaking oil a little but then we fixed these ................
with new parts.....clutch, o2 censor, valve cover gasket, distributor, radiator, tranny gasket.
(All these parts were needed, some not relating of course to the engine leaking oil)
We think it might be the header gasket that is leaking.
But it was not leaking before.
Could it be that, they just really stressed the engine out?
We cleaned the engine up too, it had tons of oil and maybe that's why it smoked??
And what the hell can we file a complaint????

Thanks ya'll.

you can always complain....everyone has a supervisor and all emissions places are ran by the government.

call your local BMV and get a number of who to call to file complaints. SOmeone abusing your car while being tested is not cool at all.

I cannot see why you cant file a complaint... When I had my 87 tested they backed it into a curb or something and it pushed the exhaust pipe up and cracked my rear valence. I made a complaint and through some words exchanged they said they would pay for it. I dont go back there anymore though cause im sure they would try and screw me somehow!

Wow Carmen that's weird... the timing seems awful coincidental to me, ya know?

Definitely, without a doubt, find someon to complain to, there's no reason for the techies to treat your car poorly, and I'd want to investigate just in case their actions caused this leak.

I know here in RI, cars 90 and older, without the "new" OBDII computer system, get tossed on rollers and basically "dynoed" with a tester in the tailpipe for emissions, while newer cars just get hooked up to a diagnostic computer to read for codes and errors. So I think the older system takes longer... but for sure check out what's up and complain.

If you do file a complaint, I'd look into going into another shop from then on, like mustanggt_50 does... can't hurt ya know?

Oh and I think since this is still car-related, it can go over in Focus and General Car Chat. Let us know how you make out with the whole complaint business though, and the CRX's leak!

Well the CRX is still leaking and smoking, and driving pretty baddly now.
It was perfect the 2 days before that, and after yesterday , now it sucks.
We are pin-pointing on the distributor. We need a new one. So yeah and yep, I will file a complaint. Our ride was totally abused, thanks for the info.

It is nothing but a money grab. I mean here in Ontario you see minivans on the road blowing smoke like you wouldnt believe, and yet they have the drive clean stickers on them, yet a car like mine which runs decent, no smoke but the clearances are so tight it barely passes. How does that work? Its retarded, and just another way for the government to take money from the people.
