Was it one of those little "windshield repair kit" things? Where they seal up the chip with that glassy goo and it's all good?

Glad to hear your windshield is all better now!

I'm thinking $50 Canadian is a whole lot cheaper than a new windshield or your insurance deductible, right ?

You got ripped. Most insurance companies (at least here in the states.. don't know about cheese heads) the chip repair is free because it is so much cheaper than replacement glass. I just got a chip 2 days ago.. I will call the insurance.. they will give me an autorized repair shop.. they will come to my job site and repair the chip right there. I sign a couple of papers.. he goes away and there is no money out of my pocket.

What insurance do you have vanace? Can't say I've ever heard that before...

Although, I know there are some states with "Free glass" coverage or something, no matter what happens the windshield repair/replacement is always free/no deductible, and I don't think it raises your rates or anything either. RI's not such a state, but I believe MA or NH are...

Michigan is..well with AAA it is....

I have a chip right now that is hidden by the rear view mirror. I am waiting for it to crack so i get a new windshield.

My deductable is like 60 bucks or something and the place i take it to covers up to 100 dollar deductables....So i get all windshield work for free... But why fix a chip??? when i don't see it, and want a free windshield....hahaha

if its just a little chip (like under the size of a nickle) you can go to any parts store(auto zone, advance, etc) and get a winshild repair kit for $5-8 bucks. Its really easy to do yourself and if its a small chip the repair company will probably use the same kit to fix it.
