Possibly buying a focus, have questions

Hola all. I am debating on buying a 2000 focus ZX3 w/ 70K for $3,000. From what little I know, this is a decent deal. I just need it for a beater, and the gas mileage. My old beater took a crap on me.

However, with that said, I have no idea how reliable these cars are. It is a manual, keyless entry, etc.etc.

Is there anything specific I should look for? Working on cars is not a problem.

It should treat you well, that seems like decent deal (although I am unsure of body condition, etc).

With as easy as working on these cars is, just keeping an eye on all the usual things you would on any other car is fine. There is nothing that sticks out in my mind as something that will shell unless you babysit it.

Thanks for the feedback. That is what I wanted to hear :)

The dude says it is in normal wear and tear condition for 5 years. Nothing spectacular, but not bad either. Doesn't really matter as long as it is clean, and doesn't take a dump right after I get it.

Thanks again.

im sure you have already check it out but make sure ALL the recalls are done :) i beleive there are 4 big ones, fuel pump, rear wheel bearings, front springs and one more i cannot recall. Other than that not much more that should stick out big time...would recommend an ECU update from Ford too ;p

When does the clutch typically go bad on these cars?
