Cloth wheel-wells???

Been looking at the 2005 ZX5, may purchase. Today while checking them out, I noticed the rear wheel-well liners are made of a cloth-like material!

Anyone else notice this?

If your Focus has them, how are they holding up?

My 2003's got them, they're holding up fine... it's a rugged type of cloth.

I'm still not sure why it's there, but it doesn't do any harm or get damaged or anything, so what the hell? I thought maybe it helps with sound-deadening, but I have no idea.

my 04 has the spongy cloth-type material. It seems to be holding up very well, although I had my car rustproofed and undercoated. The material is pressed onto rugged plastic, so I don't have any concerns about rips or tears or whatever. The "cloth" type material is, I'm guessing, for sound deadening.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking....just seems like they would hold moisture and get water logged.

2000 SE...I have it as well, and it's holding up to strenuous driving (101k on the car).

'02 ZTS, about 50k on it. Still holding up fine. And yes, it's for sound deadening.
