Official Year Update

Actually a year and one week to be exact that I've owned my 2004 SVTF. This is the only car I've ever owned that I'm enjoying more than the day I bought it. Usually most people get 'new car fever' where it's wonderful for the first few months and then it wears off. Not with my car. I'm having more fun with this car then should be allowed for $17,500, it's almost a crime. I thank God that by a series of circumstances (do a seach on my name for the whole history) I did not get a 2004 ZX5 with the PZEV and instead get the SVT. Not that there is anything wrong with the PZEV, at least the 2004 model had some balls unlike the 2005 ZX5. But the SVTF is just an amazing car, and I think we would all agree is still by far the best performing Focus released in America so far, and in my opinion the best looking.

The best thing is after 10,500 miles I have not had a single thing go wrong with this car. It fires up every time I turn the key: no clutch, transmission, cd player, electrical, or anything like. The gas mileage has been much better than expected, I'm averaging anywhere between 24 MPG to 26 MPG with mixed city/hwy driving. Premium only gas sucks with the gas prices being where they are, but I get so much joy from that little car I really don't care. Major props to Ford/SVT for building this car. It's really sad what is going on with the Focus now, Ford has completely lost their direction. I know a lot of you are holding out for an SVTF replacement but judging by 2005 Focus, Ford is headed away from sporty looking, high performance coupes/hatchbacks. I'm not holding my breath for anything to replace the SVTF, which is a shame because a move to AWD and turbo in this platform was the next logical step. I guess if you want a high performance, affordable hatcback, the new Mazdaspeed 3 will be the way to go.

Anyway, is this my appreciation thread for this amazing little car. Chime in if you feel the same way, and it doesn't matter whether you own an SVTF or a regular Focus because they are all great cars. In my opinion the Focus is one of the best cars ever to come from Ford.

I feel the same way you do. The only other car that I've owned that comes close was my 89 ford probe GT Turbo.. And I kinda think they won't make another svt focus at least till the '06 cobra catches more SVT attention. Then bring the damn turbo we need...I hate those F*$king NEONS.....

I agree with you comletely, even with my list of warranty work:

flywheel/clutch/pressure plate
ignition module
power steering pump
intake manifold

The car is so much fun to drive!!!

glad you like the car so much. I'm still pondering what kinda crack I was smokin when I bought my focus, but the handling almost makes up for all of its downsides.

Give me a turbo focus( even a FWD) and I'd be a happy man.
