if it's restored, it'll be worth way more than $100K.

Yeah, if you were looking to restore a rare muscle car, this would definitely be worth 40K.

Personally I'm not a huge fan, but I know that original superbirds are hard to come by.

I agree, 40k for an numbers matching bird is a deal, but holy crap that thing needs a lot of work. Not just work either, parts. the interior is a trainwreck. the body panels don't line up, the engine needs to be taken apart, cleaned and rebuilt, the vinyl top needs to be replaced, the hood is a little scarey looking. That's just what you can see. Also all the body filler that is patted on there is sketchy. The underbody is probably less than pristine too. zoiks. You would probably make a profit if you intended to sell it after the restoration, but it wouldn't be enoungh to make up for the number of manhours put into it.

That car is really rough, but a Superbird is RARE, and a numbers-matching one is not an everyday find, even if it does look like something right out of Joe Dirt. Right now there is a "boom" in the Mopar 60's/early 70's muscle cars; for example, Hemi-equipped cars routinely go for well over $100,000 at auction. These are cars that 10 years ago, might have sold for $20,000-$30,000.

1969 Hemi GTX eBay auction

1971 Hemi Cuda eBay auction

The 440 with the "three deuces" is an awesome engine. I had a "car buddy" in high school who had a 1971 Plymouth Barracuda with a 440 Six Pack, and that car was FAST and sounded AWESOME. It put my 1968 Plymouth Satellite with a 383 to shame.

its a 1970 with 440 6 pack...
that engine (without the six pack) can cost more than 10 k
and the 6 pack manifold and carbs can cost neerly that....

and it only have 40k miles and one owner?
not too bad...
i wounder how much did the guy pay for it...
i bet he only pay a few thousands to an ignorant seller..
