fusion poll

I think the upcoming fusion is gay and ugly looking, i dont care if they do make a awd and turbo version, i would never buy that car and call it anything sporty. Its gay, ford needs to make something worth while in the compact car line. This is getting ridiculous with all of the other manufactures comming out with better and better compacts. I might just have to opt out and get a gt if they dont do better.

I saw it at the Cleveland Autoshow, it came across to me as a more or less sporty/dressed-up 500. I wouldn't touch one with a ten foot pole.

Don't hold your breath on the sport compacts coming out of Ford; they quit making the SVTF because it wasn't profitable enough, yet they're still making a six-figure supercar. Which will probably take at least ten years to sell the same numbers the SVTF has already been sold in (you'll have to excuse me for not instantly seeing the wisdom in that decision.) If you want a performance compact, you're going to have to look somewhere other than Ford, or spend ridculous amounts of money building a Focus.

I think the fusion is HOT. I will trade my focus for one when they come out. I perfectly understand why Ford made the GT. It is quite obvious really. A flagship car means a lot to a company. People equate that car with Ford. It works.

The Fusion is not a "sporty 500". Its a smaller car then the Five Hundred, and its based off the Mazda 6. It handles better and has more room then a Mazda 6. This car is nice. If I didn't like my hatchback so much I'd consider trading it in for one. And Ford didn't quit making the SVTF because it wasn't profitable enough, they quit making it because they couldn't make it meet the performance numbers they wanted with a turbo version. It'll be back though, and better then ever I bet.

Have not seen a fusion in person, only pics. It looks like a nice enough car but dosent fit my needs. My fiance and I are looking at trading her Explorer in for a Freestyle, thats a nice car.

Apparently your opinion has been based on ignorance of the facts. First off, the fusion is in no way a sport compact. Its a c class sedan. Second, it's not slated to compete against the sport compact market. Third, it is a sporty car for what's there, I don't think anyone car argue against Ford's chassis tuning abilities. Fouth, those better and better sport compacts on the market have razor thin profit margins AND they are ugly as sin and/or overpriced (Si, Jetta, coralla S, RSX, Mini, Reno). Ford isn't going to invest in a car that doesn't make a decent margin at its current financial state. Finally, wtf? That car is cool as hell. would you rather have a Taurus or a Camry or an accord? BLAH. Ford finally makes a really neat looking car with some balls and some non vanilla styling and you complain about it.

I'm pretty sure that if you actually got out to a car show and took a look at it and sat in it and played with the features you'd have a different opinion.

I saw the Fusion at our local auto show and liked what I saw. The new Jetta wasn't too far away and the Fusion looked better on the outside than the Jetta. The interior was very nice looking but couldn't tell if the quality was up to the standard of the Jetta-- which is very nice, by the way. If the Fusion handles well and has some guts, its on my radar screen. (Maybe have my wife trade in her bland Malibu so we could keep the Focus wagon) .

speaking of malibus.....chevy has a pretty big SS line coming up....monte carlo, impala, silverado, trailblazer, cobalt, and both the malibu and the malibu maxx. Hmmm chevy is basically making a sporty version of ever car they got, but who knows how they will do on the market...well find out in fall 05. And dodge has it as well. Where as ford has basically nothing....they are suppose to be competting for the top spot of the big three and they are losing. Time to beef some stuff up ford
