CA emission/smog test question

Hey everyone, I have decided I want to install a CAI and stealth exhaust system from fswerks. My only concern is passing the smog test required by law in California. Does anyone have any experiences they can share and how to counter act this problem?
I have a pzev duratec 2.0L engine.

Thanks in advance for all the help.

Keep your factory equipment. Just re-install everytime you need to smog.

Someone else will need to help explain... I only know a few basics about CA emissions testing.

During CA emission testing;
They always or often open your hood and inspect for intake/exhaust modifications. If they see them, the mods must be CARB compliant.

I do not know which CAI's or Exhaust mods/parts you can use and also be CARB compliant.

You might have a chance to "get away with" a Stealth CAI, because it is somewhat easy to overlook or not see it when the hood is opened.

I have a 2004 2.3L Duratec PZEV in Los Angeles, CA. I have a Cosworth cold air intake and a FocusSport exhaust. I pass my test every time without paying someone to pass it.
They pop the hood and check the intake. Cosworth does have the CARB sticker on it so I am good there. The exhaust system did delete the catalytic converter, but there is a second one attached to the header from Ford. The one catalytic converter on the header appears to be doing a good job and lets me pass every time.
Also the exhaust and intake did not make my check engine light come on so that is another reason I have passed.

Besides Cosworth, I do not know of any intake that has a CARB sticker on it. I know I have not seen it on the FSWerks, AEM or K&N ones. Thats why they usually say Off Road Use Only.

Update: I asked fswerks about any of the modifications I am interested in being carb compliant. This is what he said On Apr 28, 2014 12:59 PM, <vik@eurosportacc.com> wrote:
Unfortunately there isn't much available for you car while being carb l compliant. Our Intake kit and Cosworth manifold are both not compliant. We do offer a Street exhaust system which mounts after the secondary catalytic converter which is 100% carb compliant but the power gains are reduced compared to our full kit.

Thanks,
Vik"

As I said above, your best bet is to hang on to your old parts and just re-install them whenever smog comes around. Thats what the rest of us do. Sadly, 99% of the performance parts available for our cars are not CARB complaint.. Not necessarily because they increase smog emissions, but because the manufacturers are not interested in paying for the certifications.
