Ford has never made a profit on the MKI and MKII RS's. Hence their limited numbers.

Hell of alot better cars out there for that price range.
I was assuming a 30-40k USD range. At that point, there are some who would buy it, though I would not be one of them.

But at 48-55k? no freaking way. The corvette MSRP starts at $53k. Porsche Boxster MSRP starts at $51.4k, Cayman starts at $52.6k. The Mustang Shelby GT500 is $55k. When you get up into that price range, The focus RS is a joke.

That's not how it works.

For example, the ST3 in Germany is 31,750 euros = $43843.57

Nobody else seems to be making the connection...

The 2015 Mustang is a global car. Rather than lose money making a niche, limited-run hot hatch in America, Ford is going to make lots of money selling the Mustang in other countries.

We have plenty of options already. I don't understand the people who complain about not getting an RS because they could never afford to buy one in the first place.

You speak the truth and for the money there is better options that leave the RS in their dust.
I think the RS is a cool car and if they brought it into the states in a limited number (with a base sticker of say $39k) there would most certainly be a "market adjusted value" tacked on putting the car out of reach of most people that would actually use it for their intended purpose.

Wow... way to say the same exact thing I did.
Of course I used their projected price (which we all know can change) and the exchange rate for the day I posted... not a wag.

Let's just face the fact that at a $40k-ish price tag, there are better cars on the market. The ONLY people buying an RS will be those who absolutely love the Focus and want it just because of that.

I used to want an RS as well...until I realized just how expensive it is, and what else that sort of money can buy.

I think you completely missed the point.

You often cannot determine the price of a product that is sold in the USA based on what it cost in another country.
As an example, I cited the Focus ST3 which is not remotely close when comparing the US price ($28930) and the price in euros converted to USD (~$43800).

I've been seeing price estimations of over 35,000 Euros so while no equating to amrican dollars an RS in the US would still start over $40k. I knew Ford wasn't giving America the goods.

Why would it still start at over $40k? European car prices have loads of taxes already included in their prices that we as Americans do not. Beyond that I guess I'm missing the attraction of a hotter front wheel drive Focus. Wouldn't it be better to have a rear wheel drive car or a all wheel drive car when the power level goes up to what the 2.3L EcoBoost is capable of?
