The sound comes from both horizontally opposed cylinders, and uel headers...so your both right. The hp loss is negligible. Helicopter sound though?? Sounds like someones jealous.

well in the early 90's i was under 5 so sorry. not everything has to be a big fart can, i love the look of my Borla single. and i hate any angle on the muffler at the bumper. I just don't like dual exhaust on a 4, sorry.


last couple comments on the Subaru thing. 1. the sound of a Subaru with Catless/ high flow exhaust has a very distinct sound, kinda rumbles like a helicopter, not my cup of tea. Just the sound it makes. 2. BMW used flat engines for a very long time, and Honda used 1 or 2 as well. i get it that the horrizontally opposed engine does change the sound but the majority of it is because of the unequal length headers. a subie with after market headers sounds more like a normal car then the typical Subaru with dp and catback.
