What's this focus worth?

http://www.autoti.com/vehicle/184744486
I went to look at it yesterday but the price tag of $9k was not acceptable in my opinion. The sales manager was willing to come down a few hundred but nothing under $8500. Car has 87k miles.
The carfax shows 1 accident, "owner hit an animal". The paint looks good for the most part. It was touched up in 3 spots on the left door. This isn't a big deal to me if the price was reasonable. Recaros look mint.
Another issue is the heat didn't work but they said it would be fixed before I took it home if I was interested.
I'm curious to see what you guys/gals think its worth.

Eric

Not acceptable? That price is an insult to a buyer's intelligence.

And it has an accident history? Cars with 25k on the clock do not fetch that price.

What's the service history like? That is a 6k car MAX, and that's if you just flat out want it badly. I'd start off offering 5k probably.

At least we're on the same page price-wise. As for the service history, I asked about timing belt and tensioner but they said they didn't know if it was replaced or not. All they did was change the fluids and do a 120 point inspection.

SVT is going to keep being the focus that defy's logic. its worth what people are willing to pay for it. Its a 'low' mileage EAP. There are people dropping a grand for those seats and 400 for the headlights and paying more for the 15 spoke anthracite rims. If a normal one in this condition is worth 6, then a EAP is 7,5 is only logical? Just saying, but i'd keep looking.

Defy's logic? No, some car uneducated people that pay inordinate amounts for certain cars defy logic.

The SVTF is not new enough to be cutting edge, and it's not old enough to be cool old. The price that KBB reflects for these little cars is right on par with what they are worth in the market right now. If you continue your search you will find a reasonably priced SVT with reasonable mileage. Take it from someone who buys and sells them frequently, stay patient.

"Perfect" price for a car with issues - doesn't sound like a deal.

I paid $7200.00 for mine out the door from a dealer, I thought I paid top dollar... Mine had a lot of extra goodies on it tho, not the EAP but honestly I prefer the standard package. I do like those all black seats tho... $9000? No thanks...

Thanks everyone. Yeah, they weren't about to get 9k from me. Not for a car with an accident history. I'll keep being patient. I'm sure the right svtf for me is out there somewhere.
