perhaps you think you have the perimeter alarm and you have the passive anti-theft (little red blinking light and the chip in the key thingy) I know that because I have the fob (the keyless remote term used by Ford) I thought I had the alarm, it wasn't until I tried several times to set it off that I realized I didn't, only to have a friend bump into the side of my car extremely hard leaving nothing but a dent and a disgruntled owner (me). After realizing that I didn't have the alarm, I had the Viper 791VX installed with an optional voice module, I just like to hear it say "This vehicle is armed with a state-of-the-art vehicle security system, please step back."

guerro.. shut up... I didn't see the need to order the perimeter alarm, and i don't know how it works. You might be able to go online some place and use your VIN and find out what options your car has. The Focus is hard to steal with the standard passive system. I personally don't see a need for an alarm, but I don't live in a urban area.

Yeah the "alarm" that comes with pwr locks and stuff is just a gimmic. That's how all stock car "alarms" are. It's just a way to scare people. Some people think it makes there car look more upscale when they activate the stock car "alarm" by making the horn honk when they leave the car. I always giggle when I hear somebody press the lock button twice so the horn will honk. I doesn't do anything. The little red light is no different from the one's in BMW's, just another way to scare people. But it's definately good to have so you can get a rebate on insurance because your car has a car "alarm".

i was wondrin about the alarm to. when i first got my car, i was tryin to set it off to see what u had to do to set it off. so i went to the back bumper and pushed on it and nothin happened. so i was like shit. the only time its gone off on me is when i tried to pop the hood when the "alarm" was set.
