SVT and insurance, what gives?

As you can see in my profile, I have two cars, both 2003's. My Evo costs 107.58/month to insure, but my Focus costs 114.04. Not a big difference, but why? The Evo is more expensive, has the insurance killing turbo, and is a much more powerful car. Are people just jumping their Foci off ramps or something? The Focus has side airbags and is a pretty safe car... I have no idea why my Evo costs less to insure through State Farm than the Focus.

That is strange. Did you insure the Focus first? I know when I had 2 cars on my policy the second one was discounted (progressive)... maybe that's it?

No, I just got my Focus. Totally weird. I'm 28 and with a perfect record. But relatively speaking it's strange that the focus is more.

Because you live in Michigan, like me, and there is no explanation for Michigan's sky high rates. The stupid "my-fault" crap screws everything up. Have you asked State Farm why they rated each one differently. Is your EVO not a daily driver? If you drive the Focus as your primary vehicle and put more mileage on it every year, you will be charged a higher rate since you are a higher risk due to being on the road more often.

Whoa... frush you're paying $1,100 - every six months!? That's what I pay, per YEAR. Damn, I forgot how much it sucks to be a teenage male when it comes time to insure a car.

I am surprised to see that an EVO can be insured for less than an SVT Focus, that's pretty effin' weird considering how fast the EVO is.
