The MK1 models had a huge amount of space and could fit the 4.6 L cammer v8 under the hood and had a driveshaft tunnel already for rally homologation, which made it slightly easier than with the MK3.

The current platform is available with AWD, but it's the transverse on demand awd type of system used in the Escape.
I knew that, but I'm curious as to what has been done with the MK1, perhaps I should look for a RWD MK1 wagon, if a wagon was around back then.

It's more likely that anyone wanting to swap in the 2.3 L EcoBoost engine for a Focus ST would take one from an FWD application, such as if it were to be used in a Focus RS, or possibly the MKC.

I haven't looked over a MK3 I have no interest in buying one, so I'm not sure. But i' sure with enough ingenuity it can be done. You'll be amazed the stuff I've seen on forums. Like i said being able to go to the local dealership or junk yard to pick up parts would be so much easier.

It was very much so. It's been done too. (it's in bad need of spacers too)

No these pics are just from a build thread. There used to to be two for sale on here one was a twin turbo LS swap focus hatch. the other was a 4.6 cobra swapped hatch which can be found on youtube if you type in v8 focus.

I know the cobra one sold I dunno if the other ever did.

There is no way that it would be FWD, and that's the beauty of it. It would be a true enthusiasts car that would outperform the current V6 Mustang (which now easily outperforms the 2013 ST) at a reasonable price.

Everyone can have their cake and eat it too. The V8 is rumored to have even more HP.

Not at all. Be sure to try the "limited" trim with all the goodies. The technology in the car is really a lot of fun. However, the engine/transmission is disappointing. Perhaps it'll be better if/when Dodge finally ships the dart "GT" (that should give decent engine performance.)
