guess that all depends on whos reporting it...
forbes says its the corolla... http://www.forbes.com/pictures/mkk45...orolla-201112/
then again polk also did not count the scion xb (corolla) into the numbers making the corolla fall slightly short of the focus and far surpassing it if counted.
it's all in how someone plays and uses the numbers, as in anything else. feel free to try to argue the point, I'll post the numbers for you to peruse if you're to lazy to research them yourself. of course polk had ford work with them to verify the data

By name plates the Matrix and Corolla Verso (not the Scion XB which is a Daihatsu BB and on a different platform), should not be included in the corolla sales figures otherwise Ford should have added all the new escape and C-Max sales to the focus ones just to inflate the numbers if you were to add every single model made on the same platform that would invalidate the results.

The Matrix and the Corolla Verso have different names than that of the plain Corolla, therefore their sales are counted separately.

Just like the GMC Sierra and Chevrolet Silverado, different name plates on the same platform don't get added together to figure out their rankings in terms of sales figures.

my bad, reading too many things at once...why I popped xb in there...
It's just the more I read on this the worse it gets.
yes, ford did sell that many focus, but... did you know they sell 2 different versions in china? the new model and the old model(called the classic). both which are counted as focus sales.
yet in the report they also didn't count some of the chevy cruze sales. they aren't sold as the chevy cruze in australia, they are sold as the holden cruze. polk wold not count them as chevy sales.
they also list the f series as being 3rd... not f150, but f series

too many descrepancies to be believable in my book. especially when a car company is verifying
