Question Normal for door to open if locked ?

I have a keyless entry Focus and even if the doors are locked and I'm in Drive, I can open the door from the inside. Not very safe if you have a child sitting in the front seat or a friend accidently pulls on the door handle.

Should the Front doors be able to be opened from the inside even when the door is locked and the tranny is in Drive(auto tranny) ?

Is this considered "normal" by Ford ?

mine does the same. i have the zx3 so it might be different for the 4 doors since the child should be left in the back anyway.

Mine does that and I have a MTX. It's an emergency setup, if something ever happenned that you had to get out of the car fast......

The back doors on some models have child locks which means that you have to open the door from the outside, of course only the back doors (say in a sedan).

I have a 2003 4 door and the front two doors open from the inside even if the doors are locked. The back doors must be unlocked to open from the inside even with the child safty feature off. The child safty feature on prevents the back doors from being opened at all from the inside.

Ford vehicles have done this for quite a while now. My Uncle's 1980 Ford F100 pickup did this. I don't think having the door locked while driving is to keep you or another passenger from getting out. It is for keeping the doors closed in the event of a traffic collision and/or to keep unwanted persons from opening the car door from the outside. If you and your passengers are wearing your seat belts like you are suppose to, then you wont be falling out, now, will you?

Yup, mine does the same as yours Micro.

I would go nuts if it didn't work that way, since the doors automatically lock when the car moves. I'd forever be looking like a fool trying to get out of my car if I had to unlock it first.
