Possible (probable) zx3/zx5 owner comin to town. (LOTS of questions)

alright i am officially a noob when it comes to most car stuff. I guess i know more than the average "daddy bought me a bmv...or is it bmw? hehehe" lol...

please bare with me, i finally found a real source for information, and the list of questions i will be typing up will be huge. I dont mind if they dont all get answered, but feel free to chime in with whatever tid bit of knowledge you have (im sure there are hundreds of things to look for when shopping, things to stay away from etc etc)

anyway, my dad has a 2001 focus se. It has the zetec engine. (i keep looking it up, but i get varying results on the HP output on it) Is the zetec the
2.0 with 110 hp
2.0 with 130 hp
or the 2.3 (also with 130 hp?)

i assume the zetec is the 2.0 with 130? (correct me if im wrong) also, what are the only engines available in the zx3/zx5? (seems like everywhere i look its 130 hp standard, the 2.0?)

My dads car is..well decent. Pretty comfortable, decently peppy (im 18, first car was a dodge ram with the 5.2 with just over 250 hp, and i really loved the sound and power i got from it with only minor bolt ons)
I am now shopping for a used zx3/zx5. So far i have test driven two different zx3's (both yellow 2001's oddly enough) i found the first one i tested has a lot of small cosmetic issues that added up to be an annoying amount. I also noticed that when i smashed the gas, it did not take off as my dads does. (i usually judge power by seat of the pants... on my dads car with the stock eagles, i could only barely make the tires bark on dry pavement from a standstill [its auto btw, and the first zx3 was auto, second was manual tranny] this car seemed to be pretty lame right off the line...so i passed on it) The second one i tested i was pretty excited about (actually test drove it today) it was zx3 premium. (premium packages are only interior stuff right? power stuff?) and i was immediatly dissapointed... it had been sitting for maybe a month, so i let it warm up for a good 5 minutes, revving it to a couple thousand to clear it out, and noticed it stumbled a lot, especially right off idle. (idle was super low.... under the 1k mark on the tach...) anyway, i drove it for maybe 2 mins, but it kept going SUPER low idle, so much so that the whole car was shaking... it had some sort of catback exhaust, and custom flames (not the best job...but decent) im wondering if the car was thrashed and then traded (if anyone does the thrashing, i want it to be me :) ) so maybe i should start looking for totally stock ones that grandma got rid of.

I am wondering what kind of power can be had from simple bolt ons? (catbacks, dont want to get into headers if they are only small couple HP gains) intakes (probably short ram...inclimate weather around here, dont want to risk sucking up some h20) chips? ive never really seen a chip that worked (seat of the pants difference) and ive tried both a 5 dollar resistor/capacitor, all the way up to a 400 dollar programmable one for my friends suburban.

I would like to do more performance than cosmetic, but i would definatly want some rims and tires. What about weight? anyone have numbers on stock focus rims? i would like to do 17's or 18's and they seem to weigh in at about 20-25 lbs a peice, but i have nothing to compare that number to. I know rotational mass is about the worst, but i dont want to be running some ugly aluminum rims just to gain a couple tenths.

How about superchargers? being only 18 with VERY limited mechanical ability, i would not try it myself, but was wondering how much a shop might charge to install and tune one? my small but time consuming research showed two models, a vortech, and the jackson racing (one site referred to both in one ad...same charger?) seem to run about 2kish? with 45-50% increase?

im currently traveling 30 miles a day (college) so i still want fuel economy, but want somthing peppier, that i can roast the tires a bit at a stop light if i want to, without revving it to the limiter and dumping it, lol.

i think i really want a zx5, just to have the extra doors and ease of carrying passengers. (plus, i think the 4 doors makes the hatch's look a bit less "pimple" esque...lol)

that seems like plenty of questions for now so ill leave it at that.

id like to thank everyone in advance for any and all help to point me in the right direction while shopping for, and modding my focus :)

Well since i see you are in IL i know there is once car up here in michigan that might be what you are looking for. It is a blue zx3 with a supercharger. Here is his listing from www.thefocusconnection.com

I would think that the 2.0 was the 110 hp
The 2.3 which was only 2003-2004 and some 05's has 130
