So I almost bought a Camaro

So one of my best friends works at a local GM dealership and told about a guy that had come in trying to sell his Camaro. Apparently it was a 1999 Black Camaro SS, which is the only good looking trim model of the F body camero. To make things sweeter he told me the guy had racing seats in it but replaced them with the stockers so he could sell it. So it had a perfect black leather interior. To make things extremely sweeter times 10 apparently his old LS1's oil pump had gone out and he tried to drive it home destroying his engine. He replaced it with an LS6 corvette engine and hopped it up a little . AN LS6!!! Mother of God thats a sweet engine. He had the corvette clutch too. To top all of this off all he wanted was 12 grand for a 400 plus horsepower monster camero. Well when my friend finished his story I instantly jumped on the net to see what the blue book on my car was so I could sell it and buy this camero. But alas practicality hit me in the face and i realized as a 19 year old male i could never afford the car and get through college. I just finished paying off my focus and now i need to stay debt free for a while. I looked it up and full coverage on such a beast for a 19 year old male with not record blemishes was gonna be like 4500 dollars a year. Insurance sucks otherwise I would have done it.

Heh before I started driving, I found a like 1998 Cobra and convinced myself that with the job I am working I could afford it.

I was 16 or 17. Well I can honestly tell you, I could not have afford it with the job im working now ($12/hr) heh.

Now I know if I had a cobra, I would have definiltly got speeding tickets. I dont think I could drive a cobra on the highway with out totally speeding like a manaic.

I feel for ya man, mabey some day.

Holy crap... "sucks" is putting it mildly. That's insane.

Maybe you could have tried harder to make the extra money needed. Sell your body to strangers on the street? Or maybe even work for the mob. It can be done man, you just gotta think a little more.

My husband had a Formula 350 Firebird when we met and we were both 19. He had an at fault accident on his record at the time too. His insurance was almost $400 a month because of that car and this was 15 years ago! We had to sell it when we moved in togather and he bought his 56 Chevy which is in restoration right now. Now we have 4 cars and our insurance is like $120 a month for all of them :)

Sounds like a sweet deal. I really dont like Camaros, but if its an SS, I can turn a blind eye to that. I had two 5.0 Mustangs a few years ago, an 89 LX Conv. and a 95 GT and my insurance was only $160 a month. Which is wierd, with my Focus Im paying.....$160 a month.
