Thumbs up Introducing the Focus RS8!

Autoweek subscribers, SEMA attendees or people who check for news about the Focus a lot may already know this, but I just read in Autoweek that Ford will be selling a kit to convert your Focus to V8 power.

The show car they used is a Focus RS (just for looks, I guess), they filled the holes in the rear bumper where the lights go with custom-formed exhaust tips! Engine available is a 5.0 crate motor, rated at 420hp and 370lb-ft of torque! Article says the kit when introduced will fit any U.S.-spec Focus.

Kit itself will cost $5,000 + the cost of engine at $14,995. That's one hell of an expensive engine, but all in all the conversion is still a lot cheaper than the ATI Cobra conversion, plus it's straight from Ford.

I posted a pic in my photo gallery, once Tom approves the image for posting, you can see the Focus and read the article.

*Edit* I found a link about this car, with more information and some good pics:

Pio, I don't think Ford will provide any that are "pre-built" it looks like something you will have to do to your own already purchased Focus. So, say an average price of $15,000 for a Focus, plus the kit and engine = at least $35,000, not including labor. If I had the money, I'd do it in a heartbeat. The kit I would hope comes with everything you need to make the conversion, minus the engine and it's associated parts. The $14,995 price tag on the crate motor apparently includes everything else you'll need to finish the conversion, including a custom-built wiring harness.

Unless they have changed the displacement of the "mod motors", that is a 4.6L, not a 5.0. Definitely overhead cam though.

Thats a great concept, however for that price tag Id much rather buy a different car, so it kinda turns out to be a waste

Oldschool, yes it is a 5.0. Check the info I provided. They took a 4.6 and made some changes to it to reach 5.0 liters of displacement. The RS8 is basically just a showcase for Ford's new/revised crate motors.
