why do i even bother? (my car sucks!)

Ugh-

So my buddies and I are driving around San Diego last night after installing some SVT side skirts on my buddy's zx3. we get onto a 3-lane road in an industrial park late at night and he pulls up next to me at a light. now, before i get any farther, let me run down all of our cars:

Mine: (02 ATX ZX5 zetec)
JBA header
FC cat
Bosal flex
bosal exhaust
diablo chip
cam gears (not tuned....yet)
FC TB
Volant intake

Gringo's (04 MTX ZX3 Duratec)
Focussport intake
Focussport exhaust

Brian's (00 MTX ZX3 Kona Zetec):
stock header
stock cat
aftermarket flex (not sure which)
custom Magnaflow exhaust (2.25")
AEM shorty intake
JR adj. cam gears

so we get to the light and, unbeknownst to me, the reason Gringo was pulling aside me was to show off the sideskirts and ask if they looked good (i found out later). right before the light turned green, i held down the brake and revved the car up (powerlaunch). i didn't even hear Gringo rev, but before i could even reach the other end of the intersection he flew by me like i was standing still and Brian was right on my ass! Gringo didn't even know we were racing until i took off, so he didn't even get a good start.

this sucks! i'm so tired of trying to get some decent speed out of this car w/o getting any positive results. why, oh why, did i go with ATX? ugh. buyer's remorse. i mean yeah, i COULD go and buy a supercharger and built tranny, but $10K or so later i still only have a car that's as fast as a mildly modded SVT.

oh well. i guess this means i'm pretty much done with modding the focus. just not worth my $$$. it's a daily driver. that's all i bought it for in the first place and that's all it ever amount to. maybe the next car will give me some decent speed.....

anyway, i just had to rant for a little. thanks for listening.

Mike

PS- for those that know about my whole cam gear situation, i DID get around to re-installing everything with the engine at TDC using the TDC alignment pin (the one that goes in the block).

Sucks man. I know my car is not going to be fast off of the line and that it will not ever really be a sports car. I have a few thing planned but they are mainly to make the car fun to drive. I don't care who can beat me at all.
