Go with the 3M kit. I've used it before and the power drill attachment makes a hell of a difference.

I just use 1500 and 2000 grit wet sand paper and 3M polish with my buffer, no need to buy a kit.

why on earth would you ever buy the kit...unless it was on clearance for almost free?

For the same price you can buy enough compound to buff out your entire car, plus a sealant t go over it.

3M worked well for me when I did my old Focus. And I only paid like $15-$20 at Autozone. I priced out the materials seperate and I believe it was about the same price or more. So might as well just grab the kit and call it a day.

Why the kit? Simplicity and one-source solution. Maybe it costs a little more, but having all I need in one box keeps it simple. Still, though, I can appreciate all of you who can save money and do it yourself with non-kit solutions.
