I'm really just talking about the base car. They've always been great cruisers and really great performance-to-dollar value compared to similarly styled vehicles from Ferrari/BMW/Mercedes/Porsche
The kind of vehicle you get in and drive every day because you're a bit successful and you can afford it.

Now it seems like they're trying to get the attention of the super douchey track rats who drive like idiots and ruin track days for everyone else. I don't see this car as a high-performance daily cruiser, I see it as a focused performance machine designed for a single purpose.

That kind of car is lost on me. I want a car that does it all.

Despite what others have said, I actually feel the silhouette from the side is very traditional corvette.

What I don't like, however, is the styling



I'm sorry but the car is overstyled; as others have put it, it seems like its got bits and pieces of other cars. The headlamps of a Ferrari 458; the side vents of a Nissan GT-R. And I'm sure I've seen that rear wheel-well air vent from another car somewhere. Hell, they even lifted the back from their own Camaro!

What was wrong with how the Corvette looked before? The long-nosed body was something that harkened back to C2, as was its double-circle rear lights. Now it's gone completely mental -- black-plastic bits all over the place. The car looks like a hot-wheels and tries too hard. They might as well have painted flames on it.


And the interior? What's with all the black plastic buttons? The last time I saw those buttons were on my 1990 Cavalier. And the layout seems to have no flow at all. And why does the carbon-fibre sort of end once it gets to the bottom half of the center-console? Why is there a chrome bit around the instrument cluster, but not over other instruments? Why is the center-vent chrome-less, but every other vent chrome-bordered? The whole interior lacks theme and tries way too hard, like the exterior.

A sports car should be self-confident and assured. This feels like it's insecure with itself.

They also kept the interior doors that don't match and the electric buttons that liked to drain the battery.

The airbag cover on the steering wheel reminds me of a crash test dummy's head. Someone on jalop posted a Photoshop with the A-pillars and roof body-colored, and to me that makes a huge improvement. Would be my first mod if I had the dough for a Corvette.

The dash screams C4/C5 to me. There are passenger climate controls on one of the vents, but they probably still won't be able to close off airflow completely and the passenger will need her blanket like every other C5/C6.

I like the electric e-brake, wonder if that means they use the rear calipers instead of a drum inside the rear rotor? Unsprung weight savings if they did.

I agree that the rear is Camaro. I understand the family resemblence, but it really should be everyone else getting hand-me-downs, not the Corvette being made to look like a Camaro buggered a Malibu. The nose is straight out of Wallace and Grommet. Wide mouth is too wide

I do understand what elsolo is saying though. I didn't like the C5 or New Edge Mustangs when they first came out, but I loved the C5 Z06 I owned and would love to have a Comp Orange Terminator someday as well....
