2005 ZX3 -- made in U.S. -- Help!

The dealership just returned my deposit. I can't seem to find a 2005 ZX3 Hatchback that has been assembled in Wayne, MI. Does anyone know when production will begin in the U.S. on this line? Ford announced that the entire Focus line was being consolidated.... but when?

I come from a family of ex-steelworkers and ex-autoworkers. It's not an issue of quality, it just matters to me where the car is assembled. The Ford customer service phone line was useless.

ANY help getting info would be greatly appreciated.

They only build the Sedans and Wagons there...all ZX3 and ZX5's are built in Mexico.

Ford put out a press release saying that the ENTIRE line including the hatchbacks were being moved back to the U.S. for the 2005 models. They didn't say when. Just trying to find out if anyone had an update. Love the hatchback, hate to settle on a sedan!!

The plant in Mexico is no longer making ZX's. Keep checking your lots. I have heard that Michigan ZX's are currently on lots being sold as we speak.
I have only seen Mexican ones though up here in MN.
Cheers.

Union thinking. Unions are not a democracy and don't believe in individuals or freedom to choose. Buy any crap as long as its US made or one of the "brothers" will bash the tail lights in the parking lot...

so if American assembly paramount, purchasing Nissan (Quest assembled in OH, Frontier and Pathfinder in TN) would make more sense than buying a Ford product.

See here:

"What are all of the makes of cars (trucks, etc.) that are American made?"
(Thanks to the U.S. Stuff visitor who emailed the question ~1999)

Don't know.

As far as U.S. Stuff can tell, there are no makes of cars that are 100% American made.

see here for more info: http://www.usstuff.com/cars.htm

Not buying a car simply because of where it was assembled seems silly to me. I doubt that there is any tracking in place that would even tell Ford that people are purchasing vehicles assembled domestically, rather than elsewhere. Basically, you would be making a point that no one else would pay attention to.

Didn't understand a word out of that statement. Rephrase with proper grammar.
