Clutch...

I was pretty much wondering what people's opinions were on the different aftermarket clutches out there. I don't need a new one yet (and I don't plan on it for a while) but, when the time comes, what would be a good choice?

I have a SPEC stage 3 and I really like it, good people, good service, they seem to really know their stuff about clutches.

I've never heard of them. Do they have a website?

Sachs, in my mind one of the only ways to go about it. They make a great clutch. What alot of people don't think about is a few things. Will the aftermarket clutch still be daily driver friendly (too stiff etc.) and if the clamping force is too great then it can have an adverse affect on the tranny. Just a few things.

http://www.specclutch.com

Compared to my stock clutch the feel of the SPEC is nice, easy engage, disengage, quick grab, which I love when racing. I also replaced my dual mass flywheel with a light weight Aluminum Flywheel from SPEC.

Best of Luck to you on finding the right one for you and your car.....

What I'm looking for is a high quality clutch that will do a good job at handling drag starts. And also hold up well for daily wear and tear. You have a point though, it needs to be daily driver friendly, and I don't need something with a huge clamping force either.

I don't know if it would be as good on the Focus, but the Sachs clutch on my old VW (comes stock on them) had 260K before it started to think about going, and then I could have stretched it further if I hadn't just gotten the Focus.

Very reason why I got the SPEC Stage 3.

Ouch.....I guess Centerforce can go to hell!!! I emailed spec with a question and they responded within about a half hour with an answer. That impressed me. The last few times I've emailed anyone in the auto industry, I never recieved a response.

RPS clutches are high performance, quick to the touch, easy heel & toe action, yet, drives without tight race clutch resistance.
