What should I get?

Once I'm done paying off the Focus (Here in December-ish) I plan on getting another car. However, I can't decide what I want to get; and that's where you guys come in. I want to either A: Buy a 05-10 V6 Mustang (or something similar) as a daily and turn the fofo to an out and out autocross/road course racecar, or B: Keep the fofo as daily and buy a V8 Mustang (Or equivalent) as a drag / racecar. Then there 's always C: Buy a Ducati.

My budget for any of the options is less than $10K and I'm not made of money so insurance is a factor. So FF, tell me what you think. What would you do and why?

Thanks in advance,
PowerFocer

I think you're going to be disappointed with any attempt at turning the Focus into a track car. You can only go so far with it.

I'd take your $10k and maybe spend $8k of it on a decent transportation vehicle. Then sell the Focus and spend that money plus the $2k on something specifically for the track - like a Miata or something similar.

Also - if you are going to do a track car, is it going to be street-driveable? Do you have a means of getting it to the track? Maybe you need a truck.

Well if you want pure performance, go with a bike as a second vehicle. I'm sure you can get something under budget and keep your bills down. Especially if you are new to bikes, get a smaller one to start, ride it for a year or so and then move up.

Your Focus is still new. Keep it for your DD, buy something older to track the crap out of.

Just to give you an idea on ducati maintenance, the special tool from Ducati to pull the flywheel is 200 bucks. That's just the part to get the flywheel off. You still need the flywheel, engine sealant, etc... But hey, money is a small price to pay to have the sexiest bike out there! :P
