over drive

hey...well if any1 knows this will be great...i can seem to notice a difference when i have overdrive on or off...y is this and for just cruising around should i have the overdrive on or off?...thanks

Turning off the overdrive makes it so the car doesn't use the 4th gear. For normal driving, you want the O/D on. If you were to be going to down a steep hill or something, that is when you'd turn it off to increase the engine breaking.

o ok thanks...ya i was just testin it at a slow speed so i guess i didnt get up to 4th gear

the only time I've ever really HAD to turn it off, is if the trunk is full (on trips and such..) and i gotta go up a really steep hill. O/D off gives a little more power.....

Or, you could just push the accelerator pedal down a little further and it will downshift by itself.
