Focus Project

So i ended up getting a 2,000 focus ZTS, 5 speed. All stock. And im just about to pay it off and i wanna play around with it. But id like to get a SVT, But im not a big fan of the hatches. They remind me of a mini van.... Sorry :/ But i thought of an idea and need some general help and imput about this. I wanna pull a SVT motor and tranny with the super charger and put it in my car. It'll bolt right in but im aware my wiring will have to be replaced. I was also considering getting a shaved door handle kit for the rear doors so its practically a 2 door. Or welding the back doors shut and sanding them down than painting the car so its a true 2 door. Taking the back seats out and building a system since i work for Pyle/Blitz audio that shouldnt be hard. All in all i wanna have a Svt focus,2 door coupe. Ive never seen one and in my opinion it would be a good looking car. But i would like some imput and see what other people have to say. Thanks!

I have had your idea for a while. What you will want to do is get ZX3 doors, since they are longer, it will make the car look right. If you can find a rear-ended 3 door SVT that would be perfect. You could pull the drivetrain, suspension, brakes, sideskirts, front bumper, interior and doors. Do some sheetmetal work and you would have a better looking 2 door coupe than you would if you just welded your doors closed. For the rear get an SAP spoiler and bumper. Two ways to mount the SAP bumper, 1 you could get the 05-07 decklid and tails, or you could cut the top part of you rear off and plastic weld it in place of the top of the SAP bumper.

The biggest part to remember is how the car will look when done, if you don't use ZX3 doors it will look like poo.

Didn't notice that, just concerned about the bodywork since I would love to see a 1st gen coupe done right.

it would not look right on the car one bit... the roof lines are not coupe roof lines at all.. you would litterally have to get longer doors and reform the roof for it to look right

So pretty much what your saying is im gonna need to take the whole hatchback and put it into my coupe. Just to have the 2 door look. Id rather stay 4 doors lol. How much you think the motor and tranny from a svt will cost me? I know the svt trannies are 6 speed so id like to have that. And i can also go door shave kit for the rear doors and it would give it the effect and look of a 2 door. But they would still open. Makes sense right?

All first gen Foci share the same dimensions, including wagons(except they are a bit longer after the rear wheel) ZX3's are the exact same as ZX5's, just ZX3's have longer doors, also all doors on a ZX5 are a direct swap into a ZTS, so what I first suggested was to replace the doors on a sedan with the doors from a ZX3, and if the OP got a rear-ended ZX3 SVT, he can use the sheetmetal after the doors on the sides of his newly created coupe. I think it would look good.

Here are 2 quick chops

ZX3 doors

On this you would just need to get a custom piece of glass made so it doesn't turn out like that

Welded rear doors closed

See, looks like poo.

Your better off just swapping a svt motor/tranny into the new 08 - 11 coupes.

So much work just for the 2 door coupe lol But it can def be done and id have no problem doing it. But you think a focus is worth do this too? Idk what you can push outta the motors but i wont go DSM motors(eclipse, celica, honda) Bc they blow up so easy when you do work to them. But with all this body work on the focus i dont wanna be all show no go. Im obvi gonna do motor work as well. But is a focus worth it in your opinion? Both body work and motor work?
