Buying an expensive car then can't afford maintenance.

It drives me nuts. I am constantly seeing new(er) expensive cars (Cadillacs mostly, also Lincolns, Benz, BMWs...) with bald tires or dented fenders or the like.

Why buy a car so expensive that you can' afford the maintenance on it???
I bet most of those people don't get oil changed regularly either.

The bald tires really drive me nuts cause it's not safe for others around you.

I drive through Detroit every day to and from work and go figure, that's where I see it most.

I agree with you. Especially seeing bald ass tires on cars...When I see someone with a car with bald tires, I wish I were a police officer so I could ticket them for "negligence with possibility for an accident." YOU CANT STOP WITH BALD TIRES!

Exactly how I feel. It's been raining here and hydroplaning is also a big concern.

Sadly you can't do nothing about it other than avoid them. Like you said, they have expensive vehicles; monthly payments must be through the roof that they don't have enough for maintenance. That was something they didn't consider before the purchase.

Legally you can get a ticket for bald tires. Police officers just prefer to pull you over for rolling a stop sign in an empty subdivision with no one around, and clear visibility in all directions.

A lot of vehicles are perceived as being expensive because they are a premium brand, but aren't actually expensive. I call it ghetto fabulous, buy a high mileage vehicle with high perceived value, and then act like you're loaded.

You can buy this for like $12k, probably even with 22s already on it.

So you drive through one of the crappiest cities in America, with one of the worst ghettos.. and you're surprised that people don't take care of their cars there?

Duh..

This.

Very common in the Bay Area. See a lot of people in "certain" cities driving a Jag, Caddy, or Lexus that's old enough to have gotten within their price range. A real common 'budget ghetto fabulous' one is the 2nd/3rd gen Lexus ES. Anyone who knows cars knows it's a dolled-up Toyota Camry. That doesn't stop them from buying one with forest green paint and gold emblems, and slapping some dubs on there, then rolling around sittin' low with the bass pounding (and the license plate rattling).

I see a LOT of generations-old BMWs riding around here. Smoking. Bald tires. All sorts of red and orange lights glowing on the dash. Running like crap. Leather torn. Paint looks like primer. Doesn't seem to matter that it's a total POS as long as it's got that emblem on it. I rather drive a new Ford, Kia, etc. than an old bomb like that.

Discribes 40% of the military people that buy said cars and get back to the US where they can no longer afford to maintain their vehicles.
