2013 1.6L Escapes Recalled; Stop Drivin Immediately

Ford recalls 2013 Escape, tells owners to stop driving immediately
Quote:
Ford Motor Co. is telling Canadian and U.S. owners of one version of the brand-new Ford Escape not to drive the SUVs until dealers can fix fuel lines that can crack and spill gasoline, causing engine fires

The company issued the unusual warning on Thursday and said it is recalling 2013 Escapes equipped with 1.6-litre four-cylinder engines. Dealers will pick up the Escapes and drop off a loaner car that customers can use until the repairs are finished. The company is hoping to ship parts and get all the SUVs repaired in the next two weeks.
I dont think I've seen a recall where the maker says to stop driving it immediately before. Should only be a small percentage of the Escapes sold but still, heads up.

I've seen recalls like this. At least they are owning up to it, caught it first, and are fixing it. Things happen, cars are getting increasingly complicated as we add technology to them.

I love this. Hyundai or Toyota has a recall and everyone on this forum jumps on it:

"Crap! All of it crap!"
"That's what you get for buying foreign!"
"Korean garbage junk!!"

Then Ford has a serious recall affecting driveability and the most anyone says is:

"at least they're owning up to it."

This is the very definition of being a "fan boy."

PS; I'm not picking on you "kylesvt" just the forum in general.

All car forums are the same and alot of members are brand whores/fanboys and can't see passed the brand they own and only acknowledge negative things about other brands.

This does suck for Ford. Remember when the Dodge Durango caught fire in NY;lotsa bashing on Dodges then across the whole net but I agreed with most of it then. lol

sorry, figured you guys would read the link. i didnt want to copy and paste the whole article, although i should have included the reason in my OP. i'll update that for the others that are just skimming threads.

btw, it was the fuel lines. possible leak while driving, thus fire hazard.
I'm glad they are being proactive and putting out a press release. I know i'd appreciate the forwardness of Ford to fix my car if I had one of these.
