Ford is a great brand

My first new ford was a 2007 ford focus I loved that car to bad I totaled it bad thank GOD I walked away without a scratch. Since then I have owned a 2009 fusion 2011 ford focus and my current is 2012 ford expedition it is a very smooth ride and have had the pleasure of taking a trip to Houston Texas with it from Chicago. Ford builds great automobiles and I should remain loyal as long as they don't become boring like they did in the 90s and early 2000s. I am really excited because I'm saving money to buy a fiesta or focus for my daily driver. It's nice to see so many people enjoying their ford focus new or used it is a very good car. I'm thinking though I will probably buy a used car for the first time since 1995. Do you think I should hire a mechanic to look at it before I purchase?

It depends on weather you are buying the car from the classifieds or a dealer. Reputable dealers should already have looked over the cars and will often have there own warranties. If you are buying from the classifieds, you may want to have the car checked out depending on how concerned you are. I've personally never had any of my cars checked out before purchasing and have never had any problems. I always consider it slight overkill depending on the condition of the car being considered.

More than likely I would buy from a dealer but reputable might be a toss up

I like to buy used cars from the "bigger" dealerships, because typically they are not going to sell junk. They often come with some kind of a warranty as well.

Unless it's certified pre-owned/warranteed, get a 2nd opinion (IMHO.)

Even then, it doesn't hurt to get a 2nd opinion unless you really know what you're looking for and have time to give the car a thorough going-over.
