03 Focus 2 inch trailer hitch receiver wanted.

Looking for a 2 inch receiver hitch for an 03 SVT 3 door. With the tail being so close to the rear wheels I'm looking to get a motorbike carrier rack that stuffs in the trailer hitch. I'd really not want to get the 1 1/4 sized hitch. I suppose with the right brand I could cut off the tube and weld a 2 inch one in but that'd take a day to get it perfect.

Indeed a 250-300 pound bike is more than what the max suggested is, aware of all the stability changes that happen with trailers.

You won't find any. The 2" hitch is a different class hitch and exceeds the capacity of the focus. Legally it can't be sold. You would need to build it as you indicated. Also for the rack, the shear force of the bike on it will probably rip the frame. Just sitting still it could hold, but under driving conditions the weight will be much more with the force generated up and down from road conditions. The car could handle a small bike trailer i'd think as the force would be distributed in more directions and cause less potential fatigue/ stress of the mounts.

Indeed, had looked at the frame and it would take a little bit of work to get the load spread out enough not to hurt anything. A small motorcycle trailer would be allright as well, the bike carrier is the easiest. And all my hitch sliders are 2 inch.

Sorry but it sounds like a horrible idea. You'll probably have to find one close to what your looking for then spend the weekend hacking and welding to make it work. Good luck!

Well, maybe a day to make the socket larger to accept the 2" tube and then jig it up and weld it together. Would rather find one that's 2 inch that comes with lots of warning disclaimers. Well, okay, stuffing the 10T pintle hitch into the back of a Focus would be good for a giggle too.
