New Car

So, I finally got a replacement for the SVT. I test drove almost every car in the segment. A Fit, a Fiat 500 sport, a Chevy Sonic 1.8l and 1.4 turbo, a Fiesta and even a Hyundai Elantra. The Fit was too expensive for what you got, which was pretty much nothing. The Fiat was slow, soft and just too small, though it did come with quite a few options for the price. The Elantra was just a cheap econo box, nuff said. So amazingly and proudly enough, in this small car segment, I was left with two American offerings. The 1.8L Sonic was a great price with a lot of options, but just needed more.....torque. The 1.4 turbo had the extra torque and a six speed manual. The build quality on both was very nice for a car in this segment and the LTZ fully loaded with the 1.4 turbo, was only $19k. The LT nicely equipped runs about $17.5k. Yeah, turbo car for under $18k. The Fiesta also had a great build quality and handled quit well. I was very impressed. It was noticeably slower than the Sonic, but still fun to drive. So here is were I became conflicted. I really wanted to stay with a Ford, but for the price, the Sonic 1.4t just gives you so much more. More options, more power and more mod potential. With just a tune and intake these cars are already hitting 170 whp and 200 wtq on 92 octane. So (Flame Suit On) I will be picking up my 2012 1.4 turbo six speed LTZ Sonic Hatch on Thursday. It's not as fast as the SVT, but it is fun to drive. It has every option Chevy offers and I got it for $17,595. Ok go ahead and tell me what a trader I am.

This is not my actual car, but it is identical to it.

Lol. I came very close to buying an 83 GTi Rabbit, but decided against it. I just didn't want to deal with the head aches of a 30 year old car as a DD.

that is way old lol I found a loaded 2006 GLI for $13 grand so no excuses mister lol bought it too! I just think new new cars just are not worth the money. I looked at the sonics when looking for cars as well. but I just couldn't bring myself to buy one after the way GM treated me after they dumped Saturn left a sour taste in my mouth.

You can't touch an 06+ GTi around here for under $20k unless it has 50k plus in mileage. Trust me, VW is my first love. I've owned three.
