Sales Tax in a car written off from accident

hey guys,

It seems as though the car i previously posted about is in fact getting written off. They need to figure out an offer (don't know why since i have replacement value) but my question is

Do you get their 'replacement value' + the sales tax? if not I'll end up losing about $4,000 and then i'll have to pay another $4,000 in sales tax to buy another one!

I live in ontario, canada so I don't know if anyone knows the rules but it will really help me out knowing this before their offer.

Thanks!

Though easy enough to find, you may want to include a link to the post you're speaking of ... I know I for one had no clue what you where talking about.

2012 focus in accident, need some advice

I do a little now though.

I would say the answer to your question should be contained in your insurance policy, somewhere.

Per Allstate Insurance:
"Replacement Cost Coverage

In the event of a covered loss, you may be reimbursed for the cost you incur to replace many of your damaged contents with similar property, brand new. The total amount you'd be reimbursed is subject to the terms and conditions of your particular policy, including applicable deductible and coverage limits.
"

So they are basically telling you to read you policy. Which I'd bet is the same with most insurance companies.

But I'd guess that tax, title and license are part of the replacement costs.
