Part number help.

Okay posted below is a picture of my shifter taken from the passenger side. I would like to replace the complete part in the box (white plastic ball and socket piece). I am actually getting a lot of slop and side to side movement from the ball and socket as pointed out by the arrow.

I went to the ford dealership and they told me that part i need is only serviced with the shifter assembly, which is, of course, $500.

Can anyone verify that the information I was given is correct, or can I in fact get the part I need. If I had a part number to give them to order it would make things a lot easier I think.

Thanks in advance!

But first make sure the 'centering spring' is not unwound.
... least I think there's a spring there, my mind's eye can't picture it clearly though.
